NEWS RELEASE – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Yavapai County School Superintendent Tim Carter is pleased to announce the appointment of Irene Marley to the Kirkland Elementary School District Governing Board. This vacancy is due to the resignation of Board Member Keri Delphia from earlier this year for personal reasons. Since this resignation occurred during the 2024 election cycle, the position was held vacant, pending the election process. This allows the voters to effectively fill the vacancy. The election process yielded two non-incumbent qualified candidates, making it eligible for the Board of Supervisors to cancel the election and appoint those individuals to the full term, as if they had been elected and saving taxpayers the cost of the election. That appointment was completed at a public meeting on Wednesday, August 7th.
There were two non-incumbents who were eligible, John Jeter and Irene Marley. In speaking with both candidates, due to work obligations Mr. Jeter was willing to wait until the actual beginning of his term in January 2025, if Mrs. Marley was willing to begin her term early. We appreciate the fact that Mrs. Marley was willing to begin her duties early and return the Board to five (5) members to fully represent the public on the Governing Board.
The appointment will be effective August 9, 2024, upon taking the oath of office, and will expire on December 31, 2024. Mrs. Marley’s elected term will then follow, January 1, 2025 to December 31, 2026.
