NEWS RELEASE – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Yavapai County School Superintendent Tim Carter is advising the voters of Mayer Unified School District, that they have three qualified nonpartisan candidates on the ballot for two (2), four (4) year seats. In keeping with his long held view, that voters should make the decisions about who holds Board seats as opposed to a separate appointment process by his office, Mr. Carter has been holding a third seat, of a member who chose not to run in this cycle, which came about late and could not make the ballot.
As a result, Superintendent Carter is announcing that the two candidates who receive the highest number of votes in the election, will be elected outright to the four (4) year seats. He then intends to appoint the person who finishes third, whichever that might be, to the two (2) year seat.
This honors the election process, and those candidates who are willing to submit themselves to the will of the voters. It ensures a voter centered system. Mr. Carter may be reached at 928.925.6560.
